Organized screening for colorectal cancer at Bejaia Teaching Hospital. First expérience in Algeria.

After the Gulf countries (December 2017) and the United Kingdom Oncology Research Center (April 2018), "The HOPA Annual Conference" Colorado USA invites the young team of Bejaia University Hospital, for a contribution and sharing of this Exciting Algerian scientific experience.
The project of organized colorectal cancer screening (CCR) in the Bejaia wilaya, pilot region, initiated by Dr. Ch. Mazouzi, Oncologist, and his team; in collaboration with Dr. M. Laoussati, epidemiologist and Dr. M. Belloul, gastroenterologist and their teams, sponsored by Prof. M. Zitouni, Coordinator of the 2015-2019 Cancer Plan, led by Prof. K. Bouzid Head of the CPMC and accompanied by professors and doctors of reference in this case, Professor M. Hamdi Cherif, Professor A. Salah, Prof. F. Bouali Head of Department of Internal Medicine at the University Hospital of Bejaia, Prof. S. Berkane, Head of Department of General Surgery at CHU de Bejaia and Dr. Layada of Algiers.

This screening project launched on January 2, 2017 from the EPSP: Souk El-tenine, Amizour, El-kseur and Adekar, is carried out by a simple and non-invasive technique (immunological test). It consists of finding blood in the stools of healthy volunteers without any sign of appeal whose age is between 50-74 years.
Since the date of the launch of screening to date, out of the 2562 volunteers who have presented themselves at the EPSP level already mentioned.

Eight 08 cases of Colorectal Cancers are diagnosed. They were all properly cared for at Khellil Amrane CHU.

Ninety five carriers of polyps identified and resected by gastroenterologist doctors. These polyps could have progressed to cancers if they were not detected in time. Low hat for the Doctors (Kacher, Aroun, Boussouira and Ahmed Ali) who keep on progressing.
Colorectal cancer is a common cancer worldwide and in Algeria. According to the cancer registry of the Wilaya of Bejaia, in 2015 there were 156 new cases. Among all cancers, it ranks first in men and second in breast cancer in women.
In addition to a national sharing of the preliminary results obtained thanks to the ambition of this young team, this project has aroused a current scientific interest around the world.
Indeed, after the gulf countries (December 2017) and the United Kingdom Oncology Research Center (April 2018), "The HOPA Annual Conference" Colorado USA invites the young team of Bejaia University Hospital, for a contribution and sharing this fascinating Algerian scientific experience.
This meeting in Colorado (USA) represents a large scientific framework where our young UHC will be mentioned.
